Middle School Program
The Middle School Program serves first-generation* and low-income** students from the greater Newark area.
NJ LEEP’s Middle School Program takes place at NJ LEEP’s program headquarters in downtown Newark during the summer and two Saturdays a month throughout the school year. Programming focuses on hard skill development, building and sustaining a college-going identity, family engagement, social-emotional learning, and STEM. We launched the program in July 2019 with 45 6th graders, and will be adding a cohort of 40-50 6th graders every year.
If you are interested in learning more about NJ LEEP’s Middle School Program, including information on how you or your child can apply to the program, please contact Elyssa Wright, Middle School Program Manager, at 973-297-1555, ext. 209 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
*We define first-generation college students as those who are the first in their family to go to college and earn a four-year college degree in the United States.
**We define low-income as an income of $70,000 or below for a family of four (for each additional household member, we add $5,000 to the threshold).
